In order to ensure a best possible transmission, the transmitter should be
located at a distance of approx. 1.5 m from the person to be observed.
The capacitor microphone (3) should be directed to the object and the transmission
of sounds should not be interrupted by obstacles.
Switch on the receiver by turning the control (4). You also can set the desired
volume. The LED (2) on the front side indicates the readiness of the device.
Transmitter and receiver must always be set to the same channel. In case of
interferences, both devices should be set for the other channel.
For operating via power pack connect the plug of the mains adapter to the
socket (5) at the side of the transmitter or of the receiver and connect the
adapter to mains.
When using other types of power packs it must be ensured that the correct
voltage (9 V) and polarity (+/-) is used as otherwise the appliance will be
destroyed.
BATTERY
For insertion/change of batteries or of the accumulator, the battery box (6) at
the rear side of the device must be opened.
PILOT TONE
The operational reliability and the proper functioning of this unit are enhanced
by an inaudible pilot tone which has been tried and tested in practice. This
pilot tone ensures that the receiver only switches on if noises are to be dispatched
by your own transmitter, i. e. from the baby being monitored. Other signal
sources such as CB radio etc. cannot activate your own receiver.
IMPORTANT ADVICE
As the MBF 3838 is based on CB-radio operation it cannot be excluded that
other CB-radio subscribers might intercept conversations or noises sent out by
your transmitter. You should bear in mind, however, that there is no general
protection against interception in the CB-radio range.

INSTRUCTIONS TO BE FOLLOWED
IN CASE OF INTERFERENCES
• In order to ensure an optimum of transmission/reception, the transmitter
and the receiver should be placed into an upright position.
• If the receiver is positioned at a too large distance from the transmitter, blurs
might occur. In this case, the distance between both devices is to be reduced.
• If the receiver is too close to the transmitter a whistling tone (feedback)
might occur which is eliminated by increasing the distance between transmitter
and receiver or by reducing the volume.
• A continuous noise in the receiver might be due to the capacity of the battery
being no longer sufficient for a perfect reception. Please check the capacity
of the battery and exchange same in case of need.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Transmitter and receiver have been designed for continuous operation. In case
of long-term interruptions of operation it is urgently recommended to remove
the batteries, as empty batteries might cause damages.
Never clean the appliance with water or corrosive cleansing agents. Should
your appliance become heavily soiled, clean it with a dry, non-linting cloth. To
remove particularly stubborn dirt, we recommend you use a mild cleansing
agent and a damp cloth.
Besides the devices must be protected from moisture and heat.
HELP PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT!
Do not dispose of batteries and storage cells in normal domestic waste.
Instead take them to a collection point for old batteries or special waste
products. Ask your local authority for details.
If batteries bear the recycling symbol, you can return these to
the dealer you bought them from. He will then ensure they are
disposed of safely.
