Setting up a dialup connection without provider software for
OS X
Important note if you have selected a time-based payment plan:
When you fi nish using the Internet, always disconnect the
dialup connection if you do not switch off the computer
afterwards. If the computer is not shut down and the broadband
connection remains active, further costs are incurred.
To confi gure the connection, you need a login and password
(access data) which are stated in the documents you received
from your Internet provider.
Ensure that you are logged in as the administrator in Mac OS X
and have all rights required.
Click System Preferences in the Apple menu or the Dock and
click Network.
Click the A ssist me... button to start the Mac OS X Network
Assistant
In the next window, you are asked. Do you need assistance
setting up a new network connection or solving a network
problem?
Click the Assistant button.
Enter a new location name, e.g. DSL and click
“Continue” .
In the next step, select the I use a DSL Modem to connect to the
Internet option and click “Continue”.
