body, rotate the Smoke Detector counter-‐clockwise to lock it in onto the
mounting bracket.
Installation Note
It is recommended that the installation site be in the centre area of the ceiling.
Do not locate the Smoke Detector in the following locations:
•
The kitchen – smoke from cooking might cause an unwanted alarm.
•
Near a ventilating fan, florescent lamp or air-‐conditioning equipment – air
drafts from them may affect the sensitivity of the detector.
•
Near ceiling beams or over a cabinet – stagnant air in these areas may affect
the sensitivity of the detector.
•
In the peak of an “A” frame type of ceiling.
Additional Information
Battery Information
•
The Smoke Detector uses 3 “AA” Alkaline batteries as a power supply. The
batteries can last for several years, in normal domestic use.
•
The Smoke Detector can self-‐detect if the batteries are getting low. Low battery
detection will occur when the unit typically has enough reserve power to
operate for 1 month before complete exhaustion. Low battery signals will be
periodically sent to your alarm panel which will display this status accordingly. If
the battery voltage is low, the Smoke Detector LED will flash, and its internal
siren will emit a low-‐volume beep once every 30 seconds.
To change the battery
•
Ensure the alarm control panel is in ‘disarmed’ (alarm off) mode.
•
Rotate the Smoke Detector clockwise to dismount it from the mounting bracket.
•
Remove the battery compartment cover.
•
Remove the old batteries, and replace with 3 new “AA” alkaline batteries, taking
care to connect the polarity correctly. When the new batteries are inserted,
your Smoke Detector will sound 2 short beeps and the LED will start flashing.
