: Installation

CONTROL UNIT

The control unit mounts in the operator
panel of the apparatus. The cutout
required in the operator panel is a 3-¾ inch
(95 mm) diameter hole. The display is
secured with four #10 socket head screws in
the four holes in the face (See figure 2-23 for
mounting dimensions). The display requires
7 inches (178 mm) minimum clearance from
the back of the operator panel to allow
proper connection of cables. Once the
control unit is mounted on the operator
panel, connect the 6 pin control cable from
the male distribution box connection (figure
2-24) to the 6 pin female connector on the
back of the control unit (figure 2-25). A
decal on the distribution box identifies each
cable connection (see figure 2-24).

NOTE:

Ensure that the panel where the

control unit is mounted has an
adequate ground. For stainless steel
and vinyl coated panels a ground strap
½ inch (12 mm) wide must be attached
from one of the four screws holding the
control unit in place to the frame of the
fire truck to ensure adequate grounding.

FLOWSENSOR CONNECTIONS

If a single Hale FoamMaster paddlewheel

type flowsensor is used, a cable is supplied
which connects from the 4 pin connector
(refer to figure 2-11) or pigtail on the sensor
to the male 4 pin connector on the control
unit (see figure 2-25).

Figure 2-26 shows the connection of the
flowsensors, pressure transducers and
display unit with the control unit for
reference only.

NOTE:

When an inline current shunt

ammeter is installed on the apparatus or
the Hale FoamMaster is used with
Multiplexing Display Units with multiple
water flow meters it is necessary to install
a FoamMaster power filter kit (Hale P/N
546-1870-00-0) on the Hale FoamMaster
foam pump.

be installed and wired to monitor foam
