Thank you for your purchase. You have chosen a Hager watch; you are about to enter a
whole new world...Every piece cultivates its distinction, to assert its powerful and
incredible personality every time. Each Hager is designed with the same quality and
precision as any world-renowned watch, but for those who want a true timepiece that
is worth its value.
According to Dr. George Daniels, one of the finest horologist who
ever lived, a pocket watch is more elegant than a wristwatch.
The tourbillon remains one
of the main horological complications, and without doubt bears the mark of the most
talented master watchmakers. It is one of the most ingenious mechanical inventions in
watchmaking history. Abraham-Louis Breguet patented the first tourbillon escapement
system in 1801. Breguet built the mechanism to improve pocket watch accuracy while
pocket watches sat in one position- in the gentleman’s pocket-the movement itself has
nothing to do with actual accuracy. The tourbillon is a mechanism designed to
compensate for most of the variations in rate that occur in the vertical positions, caused
by the effect of the Earth’s gravity. The balance and escapement are in a cage driven
around on its own axis, which completes one rotation per minute. Besides its technical
function, the tourbillon provides visual appeal, through its rotating cage, thanks to its
aesthetics and to the beauty of the workings of its escapement. Hager is revisiting
tourbillon watches in its own fashion, in a modern and contemporary re-interpretation,
while upholding respect for watchmaking tradition.
This movement (calibre) is produced exclusively for Hager by its manufacturing partner.
Each part of the movement is then assembled, regulated, and undergoes a series of final
checks in Hagerstown, MD, by the watchmakers of Maryland Watch Works. The
tourbillon is backed by a 3 year guarantee.
