Installation

3.12 Connecting Sensors to the sc1000

All sc series sensors can be used on the sc1000.

Important Note: Plan the route for the sensor cable and lay the data and power cables so
that they do not cause a trip hazard and the cables do not have any sharp bends.

For details on the installation and operation of the sensor, refer to the appropriate sensor
manual.

3.12.1 Connecting the Sensor Data Cable

1.

Unscrew the protective cover on the controller socket (

Figure 32

). Retain the

protective cover. When you remove the sensor, re-fit the protective cover.

2.

Align the connector plug with the socket, pay attention to the orientation of the
connector lugs.

3.

Hand-tighten the union nut.

Note: Do not use the middle connection for the sensors, this is reserved for the display module
(

Figure 8 on page 15

).

Figure 32

Removing the Protective Cover

3.12.2 Adding Sensor Connections

When all sensor connectors on the sc1000 controller systems are already in use for
sensors, more sensor connectors can be added (max. 8 sensor connectors). It may be
necessary to remove an existing expansion card if accessibility to sensor connectors is
obstructed (refer to

Removing an Expansion Card

on page

30

).

Note: If a probe module has the maximum number of sensors, more sensors may be added to the
system by purchasing additional probe modules.

1.

Remove power from the instrument. Open the probe module cover.

2.

Remove the fitting or plug from a spare sensor socket hole.
