Damping Curve Response (Example)
For other examples, a Damping value of 1 second would cause the reading to
reach 63% of its maximum value in 1 second; a Damping value of 300
seconds would cause the reading to reach 63% of its maximum value in 300
seconds. Thus low damping values cause the reading to respond less quickly
to changes in concentration than no (zero) damping; higher damping values
cause an even slower response. The complete range of the damping
parameter values is 0 to 300 seconds.
Note that maximum value as discussed above is more specifically the
maximum value of change in magnitude. Thus the percent of (signal)
magnitude reached for a given number of time constants is equally applicable
to reductions in magnitude as well as increases in magnitude. The overall
affect of increased damping is a smoothing of the meter’s response to
changes in concentration (
).

3.23 Optional Data Logger
The data logger option permits the 8400 Series instruments to sample and
store concentration readings internally. To access the data logging menu,
enter the “> GEN” menu and select “LOG”.
