8.3  Pump Seal Replacement

The ProBrix Plus pump is equipped with silicon carbide friction seals. The seals should
be inspected at least once a year, and changed if necessary. The sealing surfaces must
be smooth and clean, with no apparent wear, grooves, or scratches.

The product lubricates the friction seals; therefore running the pump when dry will
destroy the seals within minutes.

Do not allow sugar solutions to dry in the pump, as sugar crystals will deteriorate the
sealing surfaces. Always rinse or CiP the ProBrix Plus before prolonged standstills.

8.3.1 Pump Removal

The pump is accessible from the sampling module. First shut off the sample flow and
switch off the mains power supply (master switch located on the side of the sampling
module) before opening the sampling module.

Remove the power cable from pump (refer to 

Fig 8-1

):

1) Remove the cover (1) from the pump motor's connection box
2) Disconnect the three power leads inside the connection box
3) Loosen the pump power cable gland (2), and then pull out the cable

Remove the pump from the sampling module:

1) Unscrew the four 13-mm mounting bolts (3) underneath the sampling module 

floor

2) Unscrew the 13-mm mounting bolt (4) attached to the back of the sampling 

module

3) Unscrew the two 1" VCO nuts (5) for the sample inlet and outlet on the pump
4) Remove the pump together with its support plate and the mounting blocks
