For a router that requires power module redundancy, install the same number of power modules in the
two power frames.
Installing an NEPS1800-A AC power module
1.
Pull the handle of the NEPS1800-A AC power module downward to the unlock position.
2.
Gently push the power module into the AC power frame (NEPS3500-A) to fully seat the power
module in the power frame backplane.
3.
Push the handle upward so that the handle locks the power module in place.

Installing a card
All the cards (excluding subcards) for the SR8800 routers are hot-swappable.
You can install MPUs and LPUs in a similar way. This section describes how to install an MPU.
Installation preparation
1.
Put on an ESD wrist strap and make sure it is correctly grounded.
2.
Remove the blank panel (if any) from the slot to be used and keep the removed blank panel for
future use.
To ensure good ventilation, install blank panels in unused slots. You can install the same type of
blank panels for MPU and LPU slots.
3.
Prepare the card to be installed.
