Chapter 5 Troubleshooting an IX1000
IX1000 has undergone all-round, strict tests before delivery. Nevertheless, faults may
occur to IX1000 because of incorrect installation. This chapter describes how to
troubleshoot the device.
5.1 Troubleshooting the Configuration System
After the IX1000 starts up, the startup information will be displayed on the configuration
terminal if the configuration system is normal. Nothing or illegible characters will be
displayed if the configuration system is faulty.
5.1.1 Nothing Displayed
If nothing is displayed on the configuration terminal after the IX1000 starts up, check
whether:
z
The power supply system is normal.
z
The console cable is connected to serial port 1 of the IX1000.
If no error is found, it is likely that
z
The console cable is connected to an incorrect serial port (the selected serial port
is inconsistent with the one set on the terminal).
z
The parameters of the configuration terminal are set incorrectly (The correct
settings are as follows: bits per second–11520; data bits–8; parity–none; stop
bits–1; flow control–none; terminal emulation–VT100)
z
The console cable itself is faulty.
5.1.2 Illegible Characters Displayed
If illegible characters displayed on the configuration terminal, it is very likely that the
parameter settings are incorrect. Check the parameters accordingly.
