Installation and Use
Prior to installation, plan your system:
1. Prior to beginning work, a complete structure-specific and project-specific rescue plan must be developed
by a Competent Person, and all workers must understand and be trained in said rescue plan.
2. Prior to beginning work, a Competent Person must fully train all users in safe and proper use, consequences
of improper use, and application limits of RDRL, and all associated PFAS equipment.
3. Account for entirety of intended work area. Ensure that, should a fall occur, RDRL will be able to reach the
fallen worker. Ensure the fully deployed length of PFAS is not greater than fully deployed length of RDRL.
Consider both self and assisted rescue applications when planning intended work area.
4. Ensure RDRL is stored in an area where it will be quickly and easily accessible in the event of a fall, such as
near to a roof access hatch.
5. Eliminate or minimize any existing or potential risks of swing fall.
6. A complete and independent PFAS is REQUIRED when installing and using RDRL. All PFAS connections must
be selected and deemed compatible by a Competent Person.
ALWAYS MAINTAIN 100% TIE-OFF.
Installation:
!
WARNING
NEVER make connections to Rapid Deployment Rescue Ladder rungs.
1. Place Cross Arm Straps over selected
compatible anchor point. Cross Arm
Strap labels must face up.
2. For each Cross Arm Strap, pass small
D-ring of Cross Arm Strap through
large D-ring. Pull down on small
D-ring to minimize all slack. Cross Arm
Strap my be wrapped around selected
anchorage multiple times to shorten
its length. Cross Arm Strap must NEVER
twist over itself.
3. Fully remove RDRL from storage bag.
4. Away from all fall hazards, attach
(2) Pompier Hooks to RDRL eye loops.
Pompier Hooks must be connected to
ladder end with removable rungs.
5. Attach Pompier Hooks to Cross Arm
Strap D-rings.
