Battery operation

• Open the cover of the battery compartment.
• Insert 2 round cell batteries IEC LR6/UM-3/AA (alkaline

manganese batteries) into the battery compartment.

• Make sure that the polarity of the batteries is exactly as shown

on the back of the unit.

• Exhausted batteries should be removed from the set immediately.
• If the set is not in use for long periods, the batteries should be

removed from the set even if they are new.

– No responsibility is accepted for damage caused by leaking

batteries.

• Close the cover

Note on Environmental Protection

Do not throw exhausted batteries in the household

refuse. 

Hand over the old batteries to your dealer or public

collecting points when buying new ones.

AC Mains adapter (not included)

You can connect the set to the mains using a 

mains adapter.
• Only use a mains adapter which supplies 3 V

DC with the negative pole at the centre pin of

the plug (

+<-

).

• Connect the mains adapter to the 

DC 3 V 

+<-

socket of the set and to the wall socket.

– Any batteries inserted in the battery compartment are

automatically disconnected.

Radio operation

• Set the 

ON/OFF

switch to 

ON

.

• Select the waveband with the 

SW/LW/MW/FM

switch.

FM = VHF waveband

MW = Medium Wave

LW = Long Wave

SW = Short Wave    Use the 

SW BAND SELECTOR

to switch

between the 9 SW ranges.

• Stations can be tuned to with the rotary 

TUNING

control using

the waveband dial. If a station is accurately tuned, the 

TUNING

indicator lights up.

• Adjust the volume with the 

VOL

control.

Aerials

– The telescopic aerial is intended for receiving FM (VHF) and SW

(shortwave) stations.

• For FM reception the aerial should be fully extended, then

swivelled and rotated until best results are achieved.

• For SW reception the telescopic aerial should be vertical.

– For receiving MW or LW stations there is a ferrite rod aerial

inside the set.

• The best position for receiving a station should be found by

rotating the set around its vertical axis.
