Operating Hints
Note: This chapter contains excerpts from the operating instructions. For further particulars please refer to the appropriate user instructions the part number of which is indicated in the
relevant spare parts list.
Setting up
• If you want to set up your tuner on a shelf, in a
cabinet or any other type of enclosure, always
ensure that sufficient ventilation is available. An
open space of at least 3 cm at the sides and
the top, and 5 cm at the back of your system is
required.
• Place the power supply cable as far as
possible from the sound signal lines in order to
avoid disturbing signal interference.
• When making connections, always note the
identification markings on the cables and
sockets, as well as those on the back of the
unit, in order to avoid improper connections.
Improper connections can considerably impair
sound quality.
•
Important:
Switch off all units in your system
before making any connections.
INSTALLATION
Connection to the amplifier
Your Satellite tuner should be connected to the
corresponding sockets on the amplifier.
• Preferably, connect the
ANALOG OUTPUT
sockets
to the
AUX
input sockets on your amplifier. If these
are not available, you can also use the
TUNER
or
CD
input sockets.
When connecting the cables, ensure the proper
arrangement of the stereo channels:
L
= left channel (white),
R
= right channel (red).
• If your amplifier has digital input sockets, you can
connect the
DIGITAL OUT
socket of your satellite
tuner to this input.
RC BUS connection
• In order to be able to control the volume of your
(Grundig) amplifier via the supplied remote control,
you should connect the RC-BUS with the RC-BUS of
your amplifier.
Power supply connection
• Only connect the unit to a 230V~, 50/60
Hz a.c. power source.
The rating is found on the back of the unit.
• If you want to switch your unit on and off via
an amplifier from this series, or with the system
remote control, connect the mains plug of the
tuner to one of the AC OUTLETS of your ampli-
fier. To use this capabilitiy, ensure that the
power switch of the tuner is switched to the
ON position. The amplifier´s power switch
can then be used as the main switch for all the
units.

Satellite connection
• If possible, it is recommended to use a Satellite dish
with a TWIN-LNB in order to be able to receive
Satellite TV-programmes and Radio programmes
independent from each other.
• If you do not wish to receive at the same time TV
and digital radio programmes, you can also use
your V/H-LNB (vertical/horizontal).
1. Connecting your ST16 to a TWIN-LNB
• Connect the
LNB INPUT
socket of your ST16 via a
suitable coaxial cable to the LNB of your satellite dish.
2. Connecting your TV-satellite receiver
and your ST16 to a V/H-LNB
• Also here, connect the
LNB INPUT
socket of your
ST16 via a suitable coaxial cable to the LNB of
your satellite dish.
• Then, connect the
TV-RECEIVER OUTPUT
of your ST16
with the
LNB input
of your TV-satellite receiver.
• In this case, when the ST16 is switched on, you will
not be able to receive all TV satellite programmes.
• As soon as your ST16 is switched off, the LNB-
polarisation voltage of your TV-satellite receiver will
be passed on to the LNB of your satellite dish, and
you can receive all TV satellite programmes .
• Furthermore, you can connect the
AUDIO OUTPUTS
of your TV-satellite receiver to the
ANALOG INPUT
sockets of your ST16. The audio signals of the TV-
satellite receiver will be transferred to the amplifier
when the ST16 is switched off.

Changing the batteries
If the range of your infrared remote control seems to decrease, or if certain individual functions can no
longer be carried out, you should replace the batteries.
Two mignon 1.5 Volt LR03 size AAA are required. To change the batteries, open the compartment on the
back of the remote control. Ensure that the batteries are inserted properly (note the markings in the
compartment).
And in the interest of the environment: Remember that batteries must always be disposed of properly.
