1721-m4 Spec. Hydraulic Power Pump
Introduction
The1721 Spec. No. 60 pump is a high pressure hydraulic
power pump of extremely durable construction, simple to
operate and capable of delivering 10,000 psi.
This power pump has a built-in high volume / low pressure
pumping feature which gives fast approach ram action and
automatic changeover to low volume / high pressure when
pressure exceeds 200 psi. The pumping unit consists of a
one-piston radial-type capable of delivering 30 cubic inches
at 10,000 psi. The pump also contains a relief valve which
permits the motor to be shut off and restarted with load held
at any desired pressure up to 10,000 psi. This pump has
been pre-set at the factory for the desired pressure specifi-
cations to suit the compression machine model purchased.
Before attempting to adjust any valves (#1, 2, or 53), please
consult the factory first.
This power pump is equipped with an externally mounted
control valve which can be adjusted to vary the rate of
loading over a wide range to meet the specifications for
different specimens. For repetitious testing, the rate of
loading can be pre-set exactly according to specification.
A rapid traverse feature is included so that specimens can
be preloaded as rapidly as desired. The control valve has
a flow adjustment from 3 cubic inches per minute to 500
cubic inches per minute and can be easily adjusted by
turning the micrometer adjusting knob located on top of
the valve. Refer to Bulletin IM-711-B attached for further
operating instructions and parts on the flow control valve
and mounting plate.
