Wing Lock and Wing Flex Option

Refer to Figure 19

The stack fold planters can be configured as either a

rigid wing machine with the wing lock option, or a flexible

wing machine with the wing flex option. Narrow row

models (15” and 20”) are only equipped with the wing

flex option.

Wing Lock Option

With the wing lock option, rigid links hold the top fold

linkages in a fixed position. The planter unfolds to a level

position. The wings are locked into that position by

installing the inner and outer wing lock pins.
The outer wing lock pins are installed to lock the fold

extension frame and outer wing frame together.
The inner wing lock pins are installed to hold the wings

rigid and protect the fold cylinders.

Wing Flex Option

With the wing flex option, wing flex cylinders allow the

wings to flex up and down. The wing flex cylinders are

tied into the fold hydraulic circuit. They completely retract

during the fold/unfold operation by receiving oil from the

folding circuit.
Every time the machine is raised the wing flex cylinders

must also retract to gullwing the planter and allow the

openers to clear the ground.
