Adjusting The Mower Deck To Adjust
Mower Blade Height And Pitch
(Figure 15):
NOTE: Adjusting the mower deck will adjust
he height and pitch of the mower blades.
NOTE: There are two ways to adjust the
mower deck (figure 15):
• By adjusting the trunnions that attach the
mower deck to the unit.
• By adjusting the bolt position on the
mower deck along with adjusting the
trunnions.
1. Adjust the trunnions first and re-take the
three measurements required to level
and adjust the pitch of the mower deck.
These measurements are:
a.The distance from the mower blades
to the ground.
b.The forward pitch of the mower
blades.
c. The pitch of the mower blades from
side-to-side.
2. If the measurements cannot be met by
adjusting the trunnions, then move the
bolt(s) up or down in the slot on the
mower deck, adjust the trunnion(s) as
needed, and retake the three
measurements required to level and
adjust the pitch of the mower deck.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as needed until all
three measurements are within the
tolerances specified.
REPLACING MOWER BLADE
Remove (Figure 16)
1. Block mower blades to prevent rotation.
2. Remove mounting hardware and mower
blades from mower deck.
Install (Figure 16)
1. Install mower blades on mower deck
with mounting hardware.
2. Torque 5/8-inch hex bolt to 80 to
120 lbf-ft (108 to 163 N•m).
SHARPENING MOWER BLADE
1. Remove mower blade from unit (see
REPLACING MOWER BLADE on
page 17).
Gravely recommends having mower blades
sharpened by a professional. Contact your
Gravely dealer.

CAUTION: Mower blades are sharp
and can cut you. Wrap the blades or
wear gloves, and use extra caution
when servicing them.
CAUTION: DO NOT sharpen mower
blade while on unit. An unbalanced
mower blade will cause excessive
vibration and eventual damage to
unit. Check mower blade balance
prior to reinstalling mower blades.
NEVER weld or straighten mower
blades.
