Fourblade Main Rotor Head

Assembling the rotor head
The rotor head is assembled as shown in the drawings. Be sure to grease all ballraces before
fitting.
Screw a ball-end bolt into each of the four blade holders, securing them with a drop of thread-
lock fluid.
Press the radial bearings 4607.31 and the inner shell of the thrust bearing (the one with play at
the shaft) 4448.36 into the blade holders as far as they will go, as shown in the drawings.
Check that the prepared blade holders, complete with bearings 4607.31, can be slipped easily
onto the blade pivot shaft 4682.29. If not, rub the blade pivot shaft gently with fine abrasive pa-
per (600-grit or finer) until the bearings are a sliding fit.
The rotor head hub is supplied pre-assembled. The blade shafts are mounted in several O-rings
located one against the other. The outer O-rings may have shifted outward in transit; first push
them back into the body of the blade mountings as far as possible.
Now fit one 0.3 mm shim washer (4450.56) onto each shaft, followed by a blade holder. Ensure
that the blade holder is positioned with the blade pitch arm (with ball-end bolt) located
forward
of
the blade (see illustration).
Finally apply plenty of grease to the ball cages and outer shell (the one that fits tight on the shaft)
of the axial bearings 4448.36, fit them as shown, and tighten the M5x16 socket-head cap
screws.
