System Operation
Introduction
The basic Zodiak system is operated using button, knob, and lever controls
on the Main and Remote Aux panels, and touch screen and knob controls
on the Menu panel. Text and number entry is also possible via a standard
PC computer keyboard. The Main and Remote Aux panels are used during
live operation for fast, real time control. The menus are generally used in
conjunction with the panel controls to set up effects and for system config-
uration. Effects can be saved for future immediate recall, allowing fast and
precise control of complex visual effects in real time.
Power Up
The Zodiak Video Processor frame and Main panel must be powered up for
full system operation. The Menu panel receives its primary power from the
Main panel.
1. Set the power switch on the Video Processor frame to On ( Figure 229 on
page 330 ).
2. Set the power switch(es) in the Main Panel tub enclosure to On
(
Figure 230 on page 330 ).
When the Zodiak system powers up or is reset, the first system elements
activated are the PGM PST buses, transition, and keying controls. This
permits rapid on-air recovery of basic system operations. Sources can be
cut, mixed, and wiped, and keys can be placed on and off air while the rest
of the system initializes. The Menu panel system is the last item to initialize
after system power up. When the system is completely ready for operation
the Menu panel will display a Zodiak menu.
Note If a Frame Not Connected or similar message appears on a panel, communi-
cation with the Video Processor frame has been interrupted. The frame may
need to be powered up or reset, the IP Address may be incorrect, or some
other LAN problem may exist that will need to be corrected.
