When installing brushes, follow steps carefully. Im-
proper installation damages parts beyond use.

CAUTION
1.
Install new brush so lead is in long slot of holder. Slide
terminal under terminal screw washer. Ensure motor
lead is still connected at screw. Tighten screw. See
Fig 4.
2.
Place spring on as shown in Fig 3. Spring clip will
damage spring if spring is installed backward.
3.
Install spring clip and push down until its hooks catch
short slots in housing. See Fig 4. Incorrect installa-
tion may jam clip.

Repeat for other side.

Test brushes
: With ON/OFF switch OFF, turn pressure control knob counterclockwise to minimum pressure. Plug
in sprayer.
Turn ON/OFF switch ON. Slowly increase pressure until motor is at full speed. Inspect brush and commutator con-
tact area for excessive arcing. Arcs should not “trail” or circle around commutator surface.
To avoid damaging displacement pump, DO NOT run sprayer dry for more than 30 seconds while checking brushes.

sprayer is plugged in.

Test brushes
: With ON/OFF switch OFF, turn pressure control knob counterclockwise to minimum pressure. Plug
in sprayer.
