TROUBLESHOOTING  GUIDE

If you do have problems, try the suggested remedies listed in the chart below before contacting

your dealer or ringing the helpline.

SYMPTOM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

GENERAL

No sound/cannot

switch Power On

AC cord is not plugged in.
Power is not On.
Fuse blown in Mains Plug.
VOLUME control is at its minimum

position.

An incorrect function selector has been

pressed.
The power cord, a fluorescent light or

other electrical appliance etc., is near the

connection wires.
The Amplifier volume is set too high and

the sound is being clipped.

No sound is heard

when the power is

turned on.

Plug in AC cord.
Push power switch ON.
Replace a 3 Amp Fuse.
Set the VOLUME control to a proper

sound level.

Check to be sure that the correct function

selector is pressed.
Try separating this unit from the electric

appliance as far as possible.

Turn down the volume.

A low-pitched noise

(“hum or buzz”) is

heard.
The Sound is

distorted.

Location and direction of unit is not
appropriate. (MW ONLY)
Station has not been tuned properly.
Wire aerial is not unravelled. (FM ONLY)
Broadcast signals are being disturbed.

RADIO

Noise in radio

reception.

MW Sound is distorted

and/or the volume level

becomes low.

Rotate or reposition unit as MW aerial is
inbuilt into the main unit.
Tune to correct frequency.
Unravel and extend wire aerial.
Try changing the location or Position of

the unit.
Retune to another frequency.

Incorporated in your TV receiver are the most

up-to-date devices to eliminate interference.

Local radiation however, can create

disturbances which visibly affect your picture.

Proper installation, a good aerial are your best

safe-guards against these disturbances.

RF INTERFERENCE

Moving ripples across the screen are caused

by nearby transmitting or receiving-short-

wave radio equipment.

DIATHERMY

Herringbone pattern and partial picture loss

can result from the operation of diathermy

equipment from a nearby doctor’s surgery or

hospital.

SNOW

Weak TV signals from long distant stations

result in a poor picture and give the effect of

falling snow. An antenna adjustment or

antenna amplifier may be needed.

GHOST

Multiple image caused by TV signals reflected

back from surrounding buildings, hills, aircraft,

etc. can be minimized by correcting the aerial

positioning.

CAR IGNITION

Nearby cars and electrical motors can cause

small streaks across the picture or make the

picture roll.
