The electric Thermit

®

 igniter SMARTWELD SPARK (see Fig. 2) has a shock-resistant 

enclosure comprised of glass fi bre-reinforced polyamide. The pistol-shaped device 
allows for one-hand operation. The ignition of the Thermit

®

 portion occurs in a 

crucible.
