1.10 Reassembly
Reassembly of the suction tube is a reversal of the dismantling procedure. Check that
the large O ring is fitted to the rear of the suction tube, smear grease on to the O ring
to assist fitting back into the pump volute. Secure the suction tube with the 6 x M8 nuts.
When replacing the side panel apply a small amount of Loctite 243 to the 7 x M6
socket head screws retaining the panel to the frame..
2. Impeller, Mechanical Seal and Rear Wear Ring
With the suction tube removed the impeller, main shaft seal and the rear wear ring will
be accessible in this sequence
–
2.1 Remove the M16 nyloc nut retaining the impeller onto the shaft.
Carefully move the impeller forward and away from the shaft.
Check the impeller for wear and damage, if necessary then replace.
Note: when refitting the impeller a new nyloc nut must be used.
2.2 The shaft seal is now exposed (mechanical type)
The seal is in two parts
–
1. Spring loaded section inserted into the rear of the impeller
2. The mating section is fitted into the pump body
If either seal face is worn replace with a new seal. The seal face in the pump body will
require a sharp tool to dislodge it from the body. The seal faces can be cleaned with a
solvent cleaner, Loctite 7076 or equivalent.
