Power on LED:
A power on green LED is located on the top panel. This is illuminated when
the GSVX4 is turned on. If this LED starts to flash then the batteries should
be replaced. When the LED starts to flash there is approximately a further 30
minutes of operating time left in the batteries.
CONNECTING AUDIO INPUTS
The GSVX4 is a 3 channel mixer. Each channel has it’s own 3 pin XLR socket as an input
connector. These sockets are located on the rear panel and are marked CH1, CH2 and CH3, they
correspond to the mixer controls marked CH1, CH2 and CH3.
Wiring:
The input XLRs are connected to an electronically balanced input and are
wired:
PIN 1: Ground
PIN 2: In Phase
PIN 3: Mate
If connecting to non professional unbalanced equipment (ie domestic mini
disc or cassette player) then PIN 1 should NOT be connected, PIN 2 should
connect to the signal and PIN 3 should be connected to the Ground.
Microphone Impedences:
The circuitry is optimised to connect to professional dynamic microphones
with an impedence of 200 Ohms. It will work with microphones with
impedences between 10 and 600 Ohms.
CHANNEL OPERATION
All 3 audio input channels of the GSVX4 are the same as each other and the following
information applies to each.
MIC/ LINE Switch:
This switch is located at the top (nearest the rear panel) of each channel.
When in the LINE position the channel is optimised for connecting to 0 dB
source such as a professional mini disc. The LINE position should also be
used when connecting to non professional ‘line’ level equipment such as
cassette machines or radio tuners.
This switch should be switched to the MIC (+40dB) position when
connecting a microphone to the channel.
