The user interface Administration menu includes several helpful functions for admin-
istering your Gigaset SE680 WiMAX.
System password
The system password is the password for configuring your Gigaset SE680 WiMAX and is
requested when you open the configuration pages, see "Launching the user interface"
on page 15.
If the device came from your provider with a preset system password, you can change
this password here.

Open the Advanced Settings tab and on the Administration menu select System
Password .
Features of a secure password
A password should be difficult for unauthorised users to work out. Note the following
points when choosing a password:
u
The more characters a password has, the more secure it is.
u Choose a series of characters that is as varied as possible (not AAAA, 0000) and alter-
nate between letters and numbers.
u Do not use any term that could be found in a dictionary.
u Do not use sequential characters (not 123456, abcd) and no recognisable system
(not 1a2b3c).
u Never use a password several times for different applications.
u Never save a password on the PC. Instead, make a note of it and store it in a secure
place.
u Change your passwords regularly.

Restart Reboots the device (page 33)
Firmware Update Updates firmware (page 33)

The system password protects your Gigaset SE680 WiMAX and your local
network from unauthorised access. For this reason, it is important to set
up a password and change the default password.
