GigaVUE-HC3 Hardware Installation Guide
•
4x25G
—Specifies the
4x25G
port breakout mode. This mode provides a 4x25Gb
breakout option for upper ports with 100Gb transceivers.
•
2x40G
—Specifies the
2x40G
port breakout mode. This mode provides a 2x40Gb
breakout option for upper ports with 40Gb transceivers.
The default port mode for the PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module is
none
. In this mode, the
upper eight ports of the module are enabled as 100Gb ports. Insert QSFP28
transceivers into the upper eight ports. The lower eight ports are disabled.
When the upper eight ports have QSFP+ transceivers instead of QSFP28 transceivers
inserted, the ports operate at 40Gb. These 40Gb ports can be configured in
4x10G
or
2x40G
mode.
In
4x10G
mode, a port can be broken out into four 10Gb subports. The
4x10G
mode
can only be applied to the upper eight ports. The lower eight ports are disabled. A
40Gb port can be broken out into four times 10Gb ports, called subports. The parent
port must be configured to have a port breakout mode of
4x10G
.
The subports will all have the same speed (10Gb). Subports will have x1 to x4
appended to their port ID, for example, when port 1/1/c2 is configured to
4x10G
mode,
the subports will be: 1/1/c2x1, 1/1/c2x2, 1/1/c2x3, and 1/1/c2x4.
The maximum number of 10Gb ports on a PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module is 32 (8 ports per
module x 4 subports per port). If four PRT-HC3-C08Q08 modules are inserted in
GigaVUE-HC3, the maximum number of 10Gb ports is 128 (32 x 4).
In
2x40G
mode, the upper eight ports as well as the lower eight ports are enabled. The
2x40G
mode is the only mode in which the lower ports are enabled.
The 100Gb ports (1/1/c1 to 1/1/c8) on the PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module can operate at
40Gb speed with QSFP+ SR transceivers. When a parent port is configured in
2x40G
mode, it can be broken out into two 40Gb ports, called subports. The subports will all
have the same speed (40Gb). Subports will have q1 to q2 appended to their port ID, for
example, 1/1/c1q1 and 1/1/c1q2.
The maximum number of 40Gb ports on a PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module is 16 (8 upper +
8 lower).
Subports created from
2x40G
mode can function as network, tool, hybrid, or stack
ports, as well as GigaStream port members. These subports when they function as
stack ports in GigaVUE-HC3 CCv1, ensure that they are of the same port type.
Subports created from
4x10G
mode can function as network, tool, hybrid, or stack
ports, as well as GigaStream port members.
The 100Gb QSFP28 ports (1/1/c1 to 1/1/c8) on the PRT-HC3-C08Q08 module can be
broken out into four times 25Gb ports, called subports. The parent port must be
configured to have a port breakout mode of
4x25G
.
The subports will all have the same speed (25Gb). Subports will have x1 to x4
appended to their port ID, for example, when port 1/1/c2 on the PRT-HC3-C08Q08
module is configured to
4x25G
mode, the subports will be: 1/1/c2x1, 1/1/c2x2,
1/1/c2x3, and 1/1/c2x4.
