PACKAGING CONTENT
This guide gives step-by-step instructions for setting up all GIGAMEDIA Smart Switch GS200 series. Open the shipping
carton and carefully unpack its contents. Please consult the packing list from the User Guide to make sure all items are
present and undamaged. Should it miss any item, please contact the GIGAMEDIA support team.
MANAGEMENT OPTIONS
The GIGAMEDIA GS200 series Smart Switch can be managed by using Telnet. You can also choose the Web-based
Management GUI, available through a Web browser. Should you want to use a SNMP-Based management tool, please
be advised that the SNMP feature is disabled by default.
Each switch must be assigne dits own IP address. Furthermore, the PC should have an IP address in the same range as
the Smart Switch.
WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT GUI
1. Connect your Ethernet cable to any of the Gigamedia GS200 Smart Switch front panel ports.
2. To login and configure your product, the PC must have an IP address in the same range as the Smart Switch. The
default GIGAMEDIA GS200 Smart Switch IP address is 192.168.2.1, so your PC should have an IP address like
192.168.2.x (« x » is a number between 2 and 254) and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
3. Open your web browser and http://192.168.2.1 (factory-default IP address) in the address box.
4. Once the logon box appears, enter the default username and password:
a. Default username = admin
b. Default password = system

BEFORE ANY CONFIGURATION OF YOUR SMART SWITCH GGM GS200
Please observe the following precautions before the Smart Switch installation:
• Install your Smart Switch in a cool and dry place. Please refer to the Technical Specifications for the acceptable
operation temperature and humidity ranges.
• Install the Smart Switch in a site free from vibration, dust and direct sunlight.
• Leave enough space on the left and right side of the Smart Switch for ventilation.
• Ensure that the power cable is firmly inserted into a suitable power outlet.
