2.3.11

Ramp Frequency Sweep Configuration 

(Series 12700A Only)

Use this feature to set up a Ramp frequency sweep. Figure 2-19 illustrates the Ramp Frequency Sweep 
menu. A Ramp frequency sweep starts at a designated frequency and runs continuously until it reaches a 
stop frequency. The Ramp sweep can be run as a single sweep or continuously. There are no step options 
associated with the Ramp Frequency Sweep.

There are several parameters to be setup in this application. Move the cursor to highlight the specific 
parameter to be set, then look at the options for that parameter by pressing the up or down Step key. 
Additional options can be selected with the softkeys to

a.

Set up an alternate Step Frequency sweep as detailed in Section 2.3.3.

b.

Set up a dual Power-Frequency sweep

1.

Press 

[Alt Sweep] 

to configure a second Step or Ramp Frequency sweep that can be run alternately 

without having to reconfigure each time.

2.

Press 

[Dual Sweep]

 to configure and run a dual Power-Frequency sweep.

3.

Press

 

[Trigger Sweep] 

to start a frequency sweep or take a single step.

NOTE: 

If the Ramp Frequency Sweep parameters are selected such that the 

maximum sweep rate allowed for the lowest octave of the full sweep is exceeded, 
reliable operation of Ramp Frequency Sweep is not guaranteed.  Refer to the Ramp 
Frequency Sweep specifications for details on the maximum sweep rate per octave.
