Creating the CAT5e cable connection
To terminate or shorten an existing terminated CAT5E camera cable, you must create a CAT5e cable
connection using the EZ-RJPRO
™
HD crimp tool.
Before you begin
If needed,
expose the CAT5E cable contained in the “all-in-one” cable
.
To create the CAT5e connection:
1 Slide the strain relief boot over the unstripped CAT5e cable.
You can do this after you strip the cable, but it is easier to do it first.
2 Using the cable stripper, strip approximately 5 cm (2 in.) from the CAT5e cable to expose the wires
inside.
Be careful not to nick or cut the interior wires. Separate the wire pairs and straighten them out as
much as possible.
3 The cable and connector are shielded. To ensure that the drain wire makes solid contact to the
connector when crimped, fold back the drain wire and wrap it with the provided copper tape (A).
