OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Spacer Installation

Figure 3

To increase the service life of the quick coupler, weld-on spacers (1 & 2) should be added (before installing the quick
coupler) to pick up the desired dipper width (3)

of the attachments when possible.

The quick couplers are universal and undersized to allow for flexibility with narrow attachment interfaces. Spacers are
included to ensure proper fit to your attachment. Spacers make up the difference in width, centering the quick coupler on
the attachment during operation. This helps minimize the working stress on the quick coupler by increasing the amount of
surface contact between the quick coupler and attachment pins. Geith highly recommends installing the spacers on the
quick coupler.

The ‘C’ shaped spacer matches with the front fixed hooks as shown (1). The rear caliper (2)

should be mounted

flush with the bottom of the coupler and mounted at a distance which matches the pin centers on the attachments. Both
front and rear calipers should be fully welded using a single fillet weld using an E7018 electrode or approved equivalent.
