4-2-2-2 Connecting AC (Mains) Power to the Ultrasound System
Connecting the Vivid™ S60/Vivid™ S70 ultrasound unit involves preliminary checks of the power cord,
voltage level and compliance with electrical safety requirements.
1) Ensure that the wall outlet is of appropriate type, and that the Power ON/OF switch is turned OFF.
2) Uncoil the power cable, allowing sufficient slack so that the unit can be moved slightly.
3) Verify that the power cable is without any visible scratches or any sign of damage.
4) Verify that the on-site mains voltage is within the limits indicated on the rating label on the rear of
the Vivid™ S60/Vivid™ S70 ultrasound scanner.
5) Ensure that the wall outlet is of the appropriate type, and that the AC Power ON/OFF switch on the
scanner rear panel is turned OFF. (If necessary, switch it to the OFF position).
6.) Connect the AC Power Cable female plug to the Power Inlet (AC IN) at the rear of the unit - see
Figure 4-1 . Use the cable clip to secure the cable firmly in the socket ( Figure 4-2 ).
Note: In the next step, it is necessary to screw the plastic cable clamp (into the hole provided in
the support column - centrally located at the rear of the system, see
Figure 4-2 ).
Then, to route the Mains Power cable upwards and through the clamp, and secure the
clamp in position to prevent the cable from dangling down and becoming caught in the
wheels when moving the scanner.
