Chapter 2 - Site Preparation
2-3
2-2-2-1
Voluson E8 / Voluson E6 Power Requirements
Power Consumption nominal 1000 VA including all options.
Mains outlet: Mains socket AUX for accessories.
All mains outlets are co-switched by the system’s mains switch via built-in isolation transformer.
Output voltage for AUX: 115V or 230V.
2-2-2-2
Inrush Current
Inrush current is not a factor to consider due to the inrush current limiting properties of the power
supplies.
2-2-2-3
Site Circuit Breaker
It is recommended that the branch circuit breaker for the system be readily accessible.
2-2-2-4
Site Power Outlets
A dedicated AC power outlet must be within reach of the system without extension cords. Other
adequate outlets for the external peripherals, medical and test equipment needed to support this system
must also be present within 1 m (3.2 ft.) of the system. Electrical installation must meet all current local,
state, and national electrical codes.
2-2-2-5
Main Power Plug
The Voluson E8 / Voluson E6 ultrasound system is supplied with a main power plug, as standard. In the
event that the system arrives without a power plug, or with the wrong plug, contact your GE dealer.
When necessary, the installation engineer will supply the appropriate power plug to meet the applicable
local regulations.

CAUTION
!! CAUTION:
Modification of voltage setting only by an authorized service person!
The maximum power consumption of equipment (inclusive of the color LCD monitor) connected
to these outlets must not exceed 345VA!
CAUTION
!! CAUTION:
POWER OUTAGE MAY OCCUR.
The Voluson E8 / Voluson E6 requires a dedicated single branch circuit. To avoid circuit
overload and possible loss of critical care equipment, make sure you DO NOT have any other
equipment operating on the same circuit.
