The TS0870, TS0870H (heavy duty), and TS0870D (decorative) Smart Card Readers are multifunction, all-purpose
proximity card readers suitable for most locations requiring a short-range reader. Product features include:
•
Readers can accommodate up to 11,466 site codes and up to 65,535 user numbers.
•
Programmable via an LCD RAS on the LAN or by using a reader configuration card.
•
Readers can use the world-wide unique card serial number on blank (un-programmed) Smart Cards for access
control, where the control panel (and door/lift controller, if applicable) is fitted with an Intelligent User Module
(IUM).
•
Readers can be used in
online mode
(connected to system LAN or door/lift controller sub-LAN), or
offline mode
(connected to Wiegand or magnetic stripe interface) with little or no programming.
•
If not polled within 10 seconds of power being applied, the reader automatically switches to offline mode, and
beeps once.
•
System operators can create custom card formats using up to 112 bits of data. The reader passes the required
number of data bits to a Wiegand or magnetic stripe interface. Details available on request.
•
Operates from 9 V to 14 V DC and has a quiescent current consumption less than 25 mA and less than 80 mA
when reading a card.
•
The TS0870 Smart Card Reader is supplied standard with a white removable dress cover that may be
interchanged with one of a range of other colours (shown above in white). The TS0870D is supplied with an
easily installed, removable white Clipsal dress cover.
•
Readers can be used as a
standalone
reader with a credit facility for use with photocopiers, soft drink vending
machines, and other systems.
Installation
This section assumes that any optional devices that will be used with the reader (such as an egress button,
expanded button interface, buffered relay, auxiliary power supply) are installed and ready for connection with the
reader.
