Problem
Possible Reason
The Solution
Malfunction of a heating
element occurred and/or
a heating element is over-
heated.
Switch off immediately, unplug and leave the appliance cool
down. Send the appliance to an authorized service centre for
examination and repair. Do not use the appliance again with
any type of malfunction.
The oven lamp within
the heating compartment
remains dark, even during
operation.
The oven lamp is swit-
ched off.
At each step of operation, you can switch the oven lamp on
and off at will. With the key area locked during operation,
touch the ON/OFF button until a beep sounds, to unlock the
light button. Then touch the light button to illuminate the
heating compartment.
Standby mode has been acti-
vated, switching off the oven
lamp automatically.
If required, press the ON/OFF button and thereafter the
light button to switch on the oven lamp again.
The oven lamp is out of
order.
Replace the oven lamp by a light bulb, suitable for high tem-
perature applications (see: ‘Replacing the Lamp in the Hea-
ting Compartment’). If in doubt, take the appliance to an
authorized electrician for exchanging the light bulb.
You have replaced the light
bulb of the oven lamp, but
it burnt out again in a very
short time.
The light bulb has not been
suitable for high tempera-
ture application.
Do not use common light bulbs for the oven
lamp!
For usage within an oven, special high temperature
light bulbs are required (see: ‘Technical Specifications’ and
‘Replacing the Lamp in the Heating Compartment’).
Condensate is accumulating
at the interior of the oven
door and hot air is coming
out.
Depending on the type of
food your are cooking (e.g.
juicy roast), during operati-
on steam may escape and
condensate on cooler parts
of the appliance.
This is normal. No need to do anything.
The rotisserie spit is not
turning.
The wrong program is
started.
Cancel the running program (see: ‘Interrupting or Cancelling
the Cooking Process’). Then select the program Chicken and
start the oven again.
Your food has some
burnt areas, although you
selected time and tempera-
ture correctly.
Your food is placed too
near to the heating
elements.
Always ensure to keep an appropriate distance of at least
3 cm (1 - 2 inches) to the heating elements. With very high
temperature settings, you should leave somewhat more free
space to the heating elements.
Cake or pâté collapse after
baking.
You opened the oven door
during baking or you did
not wait a sufficient time
period between operation
and opening the oven door.
Please keep in mind, that the heating compartment of the
Design Bistro Oven Bake & Grill is very compact. Thus, the
temperature within the heating compartment will drop very
quickly, when opening the oven door. Delicate baked goods
will collapse after baking, when cooled down too quickly.
After baking leave the oven door closed for 15 - 30 minutes.
