materials, such as metal, cause interference.
• If the device is installed inside the ceiling or in a closet, test
the sync performance with a compatible activity tracker.

Getting Started
When using the device for the first time, you must complete
these tasks to set up the device and learn about the basic
features.

Updating Firmware and Verifying Firmware

NOTE:
You can open only one vívohub utility at a time when the
device is connected to the computer.

Download and install the vívohub firmware loader provided
by Garmin or your wellness partner.
A folder labeled vívohub firmware bundles is created
automatically in the Documents\Garmin folder.

Download the vívohub firmware bundle provided by Garmin
or your wellness partner.

Copy the vívohub firmware bundle .zip file (without extracting
it) to the vívohub firmware bundles folder.
NOTE:
The .zip file must not be extracted.

Run the Garmin vívohub firmware loader application.

Select the firmware bundle from the menu.

Connect the device to the computer using the micro-USB
connector.

The firmware version appears in the application.

Program
to program the device with the new firmware

Configuring Network Settings
Before the device can join an existing wireless network and
connect to Garmin Connected Services, you must configure the
network settings using the configuration utility. Consult with your
network administrator to obtain the settings for your network.

Download, install, and run the vívohub configuration utility
provided by Garmin.

Network Settings
Network settings are stored in non-volatile flash memory on the
device.
OAuth Consumer Key
: The string that identifies the wellness
partner making the API request. This value is loaded using
the OAuth file provided by Garmin or the wellness partner.
The default value is blank.
OAuth Consumer Secret
: The string used to sign API requests.
This value is loaded using the OAuth file provided by Garmin
or the wellness partner. The default value is blank.
SSID
: The 31-character ASCII name that identifies the wireless
network the device attempts to join. The SSID (Service Set
Identifier) must be a minimum of 8 characters and a
maximum of 31 characters. The default value is blank.
Security Type
: The security type used to join an encrypted
network. Options include WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK or none. The
default value is none.
Passphrase
: The network security key used to join a wireless
network. This may be a passphrase if security is set to WPA-
PSK/WPA2-PSK. The WPA-PSK passphrase must be a
minimum of 8 characters and a maximum of 63 characters.
The default value is blank.
Time Zone Offset
: The amount of time in minutes between the
selected time zone and UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
The default value is 0. For example, CST (Central Standard
Time) in Chicago is 6 hours behind UTC. For CST, the Time
Zone Offset is -360 (60 x -6). CET (Central European Time)
in Germany is 1 hour ahead of UTC. For CET, the Time Zone
Offset is 60 (60 x 1).
DST Mode
: The DST (daylight-saving time) mode settings used
to specify the type of DST observed in your region. The
default value is Disabled.
• The Disabled option indicates your region does not
observe DST.
• The By Day option indicates your region starts and ends
DST on a specific day of the week. For example, when
DST starts on the second Sunday in April and ends on the
first Sunday in October.
• The By Date option indicates your region starts and ends
DST on a specific date. For example, when DST starts on
April 2 and ends on October 2.
DST Start Day
: The day of the week on which DST starts. Used
only when the DST Mode value is By Day.
DST Start Day Occurrence
: The week of the DST Start Month
on which DST starts. Used only when the DST Mode value is
By Day.
DST End Day
: The day of the week on which DST ends. Used
only when the DST Mode value is By Day.
DST End Day Occurrence
: The week of the DST End Month on
which DST ends. Used only when the DST Mode value is By
Day.
DST Starting Day of Month
: The date in the DST Start Month
on which DST starts. Used only when the DST Mode value is
By Date.
DST Ending Day of Month
: The date in the DST End Month on
which DST ends. Used only when the DST Mode value is By
Date.
DST Start Month
: The month in which DST starts.
DST End Month
: The month in which DST ends.
DST Start Time of Day
: The time of day on which DST starts,
represented in 24-hour time. For example, you must enter
02:00 for a start time of 2:00 a.m.
DST Stop Time of Day
: The time of day on which DST ends,
represented in 24-hour time. For example, you must enter
23:00 for an end time of 11:00 p.m.
