3. Electrical connection
The device is directly connected to the car battery. The black cable is connected to the
positive pole, the brown one to the negative pole. If additionally the grey cable is con-
nected to clamp 15 (ignition lock, car radio) of the car battery, the control automatically
switches on the device, when the ignition is turned off and automatically switches it
off, when the ignition is switched on. This increases the durability of the device, as it is
only put into operation with the motor turned off.
Notice:
If you do not intend to use your car for some time, please disconnect your Mar-
ten Free to preserve the battery.
4. Hint for mounting the device
When your car has already been visited by martens, most likely the animals left their
marks for the iden- tification of their area. These odours must unconditionally be re-
moved before the assembly of the Marten-Free-Device, as other martens could possibly
enter even to a bite protected engine compartment. The best way to do so is by means
of an efficient motor wash. Furthermore, the animals leave their marks frequently un-
der the vehicle, e. g. on the car park. It is therefore recommendable to remove these
traces with detergents and mop in order not to give any reasons to the marten to be
forced to defend its area.
