OPERATION
• Place the barbecue on a flat, safe surface before you start to use it.
• When you use the barbecue for the first time, the charcoal should be red hot for at least 30
minutes before you start cooking.
• Do not put the charcoal directly on the bottom of the barbecue but use the charcoal grid.
• If you use lighting blocks, place 3 or 4 pieces on the centre of the charcoal grid.
• Pile the charcoal in pyramid formation on the charcoal grid.
• The maximum amount of charcoal to be used must not fill more than 3/4 of the charcoal tray.
• If you use lighting fluid, carefully apply this in small amounts over the charcoal.
• Light the blocks, or the charcoal with long safety matches or a long nosed lighter.
• Keep the air vents open.
• As soon as the charcoal is covered with a grey ash coating (usually after 30 minutes) you can
spread the charcoal with long-handle tongs. Do not start to prepare food before the charcoal
is covered with the grey ash coating.
• Do not use water if the fire is flaming up because of fat dripping on the charcoal. Close the
lower air vents a little and put the lid on the barbecue.
• Never use water to extinguish the fire, this will damage your barbecue. Use sand or ashes, or
close all air vents and place the lid on the barbecue to extinguish the fire.
• Always use suitable cooking accessories with long, heat resistant handles.
• Always wear heat resistant gloves to adjust the air vents, to add charcoal or to touch thermometer or lid.
• Do not move, clean, cover or store the barbecue unless it has completely cooled down.
• Do not remove ashes or remaining charcoal if not completely extinguished. Coals can remain
hot for a long time and unless they are fully burned or extinguished, they could re-ignite.
MAINTENANCE
• Ensure that the barbecue has completely cooled down and the charcoal is extinguished.
• Remove charcoal grid and food grill.
• Remove the ashes by taking out the charcoal tray (reference part 19).
• Clean your barbecue with a mild detergent and water.
• Rinse well and wipe dry.
• Do not use any abrasive products, these may scratch the paint of your barbecue.
• It is not necessary to wash the food grill after every use. You can simply remove residues with
a barbecue brush or crumpled aluminum foil, and wipe the food grill clean with kitchen paper.
• If you need to wash the food grill, then put it together with the cooking accessories in hot
soapy water, when it is completely cool, as soon as possible after use. Remove food residues
with a brush or kitchen cloth, and rinse with clean water.
• Store the barbecue in a cool dry place. Ensure it is clean and dry, and all ash and unused charcoal
are removed before storage.
• Protect the barbecue from severe weather conditions. When not in use and if kept outside, you
should store the product under a weather proof cover. Because most barbecue covers are not
breathable, you should remove the cover periodically to let the moisture out. Only cover the
barbecue when it has completely cooled down.
