Important Instructions
1. Note - Save this for local electrical inspector use.
2. To eliminate the risk of burns or fire from reaching over heated surface units, cabinets or
shelves should not be located above the appliance. If cabinets or shelves are used, a vent
hood extending beyond the outside of the appliance by at least 5 inches should be installed.
3. To prevent personal injury or damage to the appliance:
a) The appliance must be properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician.
b) Never use the appliance for warming or heating the room.
c) Do not leave children alone or unattended - Children should not be left alone or
unattended in an area where the appliance is being used and should never be allowed to
sit or stand on any part of the appliance.
d) Wear proper apparel while using the appliance - Loose fitting or hanging garments
should never be worn while using the appliance.
e) User servicing - Do not repair or replace any part of the a appliance unless specifically
recommended in the manual. All other servicing should be referred to a qualified
technician.
f) Storing flammable materials - Flammable materials should never be stored near the
appliance.
g) Never Use Water on Grease Fires - To extinguish grease fires or flames, smother them
or use a dry chemical/foam type extinguisher suitable for grease fires. Using water on
grease fires can cause burning grease to spread.
h) Use dry potholders - Use only dry potholders to prevent injury from steam coming
from damp or wet potholders touching hot objects. Do not let potholders contact hot
heating surfaces and do not use towels or other bulky cloths in place of potholders.
4. To insure safe use of the appliance:
a) Use properly sized pans - The appliance has one or more surface cooking zones of
different sizes. Select pans with flat bases large enough to cover the entire cooking
zone. Using smaller pans will expose part of the cooking zone which will result in
energy being wasted and can result in clothing being ignited.
b) Never leave cooking zones unattended, especially at higher settings -- Foods boiling
over produces smoke and can start fires.
c) Glazed pots and pans - To avoid breakage, use only those types of glass, ceramic or
earthenware pots and pans suitable for use on rangetops.
d) Turn pot handles inward and away from nearby cooking zones - To reduce the risk of
burns, fire or spillage, place handles of pots and pans so they don’t extend over nearby
cooking zones or over the floor.
e) Storing items attractive to children -- Do not store items interesting to children in
cabinets or on shelves over the appliance. Children climbing to reach attractive
items could be seriously injured.
5. Do not touch glass surface -- The ceramic glass surface could be hot even though it is dark
in color. Areas may be hot enough to cause burns. Do not touch or allow clothing or other
flammable materials contact the glass surface before it has cooled.
