The Front Panel
The SmartAlarm consists of one front panel, various sensors and a number of optional
units. The front panel is the brain of the system. It communicates with all the devices
connected to the system. For example, in the event of a burglary, a detector sends a
signal to the front panel indicating that it has sensed motion on the premises. On
receiving this signal, the front panel makes the decision to report the alarm to your
Monitoring Service and activate the siren
You can operate the alarm in several different ways. Apart from the keys on the front
panel the system can contain a number of peripheral devices, such as panels and
keyfobs. The panel keys on the SmartAlarm, includes all the features you need to control
the alarm.

LEDs
The LEDs on the panel provides information on the system status, e.g. activation,
deactivation, alarm and power fault conditions. If the yellow LED flashes, this may mean
that it is nearing time to change batteries in room sensors etc. The alarm will
automatically send a message to G4S Service Center, which will make sure that the
batteries are changed before they run completely dry. There will typically be 2-3 months
of battery back when the LED starts to flash.
Photo activation of alarm
There are three activation modes:
Full
,
Part
and
Perimeter
. With these modes you can
activate (Arm) the system in various ways.
Full Arming
:
Full Arming activates the entire system. This arming
method is used when you intend to leave your home, leaving the
premises empty
.
Partial Arming
:
Part Arming enables you to arm a section of your
home while remaining on a different part of the premises.
Perimeter Arming
:
Perimeter Arming enables you to activate the
perimeter zones (the windows and doors of your home) enabling you to
move freely within the protected area.
The options for your home depend on what is agreed with the installer.
Disarming the system
When you walk through the front door the countdown begins for entering the disarming
code. You must disarm (disconnect) the alarm during this timeframe and the system will
not trigger an alarm.
Remote Activation / deactivation via text messaging.
If you have chosen GSM solution and chosen "text arm and disarming", you can remotely
control your alarm by sending text commands from a mobile phone to the alarm.
