ASSEMBLY
Note: Before carrying out any assembly or
disassembly of the unit please ensure that the unit is
not connected to the electrical supply.
Before this tool can be used it will require some minor
assembly.
ASSEMBLING THE SHAFT
Slide the middle shaft assembly into the cutting head
assembly so the arrow on the cutting head lines up
with the semi circle cut-out on the middle shaft
assembly, Fig.2. Using the screws provided secure
the cutting head to the middle shaft, Fig.3.
Slide the upper shaft assembly into the middle shaft
assembly so the arrow on the upper shaft lines up
with the semi circle cut-out on the middle shaft
assembly, Fig.4. Using the screws provided secure
the cutting head to the middle shaft.
ATTACHING THE CUTTING HEAD GUARD
To fit the cutting head guard, turn the grass trimmer
upside down with the cutting line spool facing you.
Slide the cutting head guard over the spool assembly
and sit it on the mounting boss so that the large part
of the guard sits to the rear. Secure the guard in place
with the screw, Fig.5.
Remove the protective tape from the line cutting
blade, Fig.6.
WARNING! Take care not to cut your self on the bade.
Its extremely sharp.
OPERATION
STARTING & STOPPING THE TRIMMER
Squeeze the On/Off trigger (Fig.7) to start the grass
trimmer. To stop the Grass Trimmer, simply release
the trigger.
WARNING!
The motor will continue to run for
approximately 5 seconds after it has been switched
off. Let the motor come to a complete stop before
setting the tool down.
EXTENDING THE LINE
As the grass trimmer is used the cutting line will
become worn down and less efficient. To increase the
length of the cutting line with the grass trimmer
running, bump the centre button in the cutting line
spool, Fig.8, on the ground. This will release more
cutting line which will be cut to the correct length by
the blade fitted in the cutting head guard.
PREPARING TO WORK
CHECKING THE TOOL
Ensure that the unit is not connected to the electrical
supply.
Before starting work please:
Check that the trigger switch moves freely without
forcing it and it returns automatically and rapidly back
to its neutral position;
Check that the cooling air vents are not obstructed;
Check that hand grips and protection devices are
clean and dry, correctly mounted and well fastened to
the tool;
Check that the tool is not showing signs of wear or
damage due to knocks or other causes, and carry out
the necessary repairs.
TRIMMING AND EDGING
For the most effective grass trimming, ensure the tool
is operating at full speed and then use slow shallow
sweeps of the line, ensuring that you do not overload
the tool by cutting too fast or cutting through heavy
terrain.
Make sure that the work area is free of rock, debris,
lines and other foreign objects.
Start the tool before approaching the grass to be cut.
If you need to release the line, please“bump”the spool
button of the trimmer on the ground to feed out more
line. If too much line is fed out and it projects beyond
the guard edge it is cut by the line trimming blade.
Cut the grass by swinging the tool from right to left
and proceed slowly keeping the trimmer inclined
forwards at an angle of about 30º. Light cuts are
better than heavy cuts as they allow the cut grass to
fall away from the spool preventing the grass from
clogging the spool.
High grass should be cut in layers always beginning
from the top. Do not cut damp or wet grass. Do not
overload your tool.
Avoid wearing the line out quickly by knocking against
hard objects (stones, walls, fences etc).
Watch out for kickbacks in the events of impact with
hard objects.
After finishing the cutting operation, keep the head
close to ground level, release the trigger switch and
allow the motor to come to a complete stand still.
Place the trimmer on the ground, remove the battery.
For edging, rotate the grass trimmer 180º
Note. Periodically clean out the grass between the
spool and the rim of the guard to prevent the tool
from vibrating.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
WARNING!
During maintenance and cleaning ensure
the grass trimmer is switched off and disconnected
from the mains power supply.
Store the tool, instruction manual and accessories in a
secure, dry place. In this way you will always have the
information ready to hand.
Remove dust and dirt regularly.
