Working with the notebook
Status indicators Description
Power-on indicator/Standby
Standbyindicator Powerindicator
• The indicator is lit: The notebook is switched on.
• The indicator fl ashes: The notebook is in standby mode.
• The indicator is not lit: The notebook is switched off.
Battery status indicator/mains connection
The state of charge of the battery is shown by the battery indicator.
1. With mains adapter connected:
• The indicator lights up orange: the battery is charging.
• The indicator does not light up: the charging process has been
completed.
• The indicator fl ashes orange: the battery cannot be charged, it
being too hot or too cold for charging. The charging process
is continued as soon as the battery reaches a permissible
temperature again.
2. Running on battery power (without mains adapter):
• The indicator does not light up: battery level is 100-20%.
• The indicator lights up red: battery level is 19-0%.
• The indicator slowly fl ashes red: battery level is 19-0% and the
system is in power-saving mode.
3. Battery problem/error:
the indicator fl ashes red.

Drive indicator
Drive Indicator
Indicator is illuminated: One of the drives (e.g. hard disk, optical drive) is
being accessed.
Num Lock indicator
Indicator NumLock
The indicator is lit: The Num key has been pressed. The virtual numerical
keypad is activated. You can output the characters indicated on the upper
right of the keys.
Caps Lock indicator
Indicator CapsLock
The indicator is lit: The Caps Lock key has been pressed. All the characters
you type will appear in upper case. In the case of overlay keys, the
character printed on the upper left of the key will appear when that key
is pressed.
