Fogging of the lenses
Adjust the binoculars to the correct
distance between your eyes at the
pivot joint so that a round picture
(viewing field) is obtained in both
eyepieces when looking through the
lenses. The image sharpness is
corrected by turning the focussing
knob between the eyepieces. Turning
of the right-hand eyepiece allows you
to compensate for a possible difference
in visual acuity between your eyes.
Binoculars from the GLIMPZ™ series
enable you to obtain a clear image
over the whole range from 2 m close
focus (GLIMPZ™ 5.21 model) or 3 m
close focus (GLIMPZ™ 8.21 model) and
beyond.
Attach the carrying strap to the lugs
provided on the binoculars using the
spring hook (see figure above).
Dirt particles such as dust or salt and
fingerprints should never be left on the
lenses for longer than necessary, as
they can scratch the glass or damage
the coating.
Prior to and after each use remove dust
particles using a suitable binocular lens
brush* or with compressed air. Then
polish the lenses using a soft cloth or
binocular cleaning paper*. Wipe the
lenses spirally from the middle to the
edge. In the event of severe soiling you
can use pure alcohol. If the binoculars
have come into contact with sea water,
they should be wiped clean using a
soft cloth.
In the event of extreme temperature
fluctuations, the lenses of the binocu-
lars can fog on the outside. Depending
on the ambient temperature this
fogging will fade away once the
binoculars are returned to ambient
temperature. If you wish to wipe away
the fogging, please observe the
cleaning instructions.
If you are not planning to use your
binoculars for a prolonged period, they
should be stored in a dry, cool place.
Permanent storage of the binoculars in
direct sunlight should be avoided as
this can cause the rubber coating to
eventually become porous and may
otherwise damage your binoculars.
