Turning the Camera on and Off

Shooting Mode

Slide the

switch in the direction shown

below. The lens will extend automatically.

Slide the

switch to turn the camera off .

Tip: Switching to Playback Mode

Press the

button to start playback. Press the shutter

button halfway to return to shooting mode.

Cautions

• Forcibly preventing the lens from extending could

cause damage or product malfunction.

• Pictures can be aff ected by fi ngerprints and other

marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.

• The

button does not completely disconnect

the camera from its power supply.

Playback Mode

To turn the camera on and begin playback, press
the

button for about a second.

Press the

button again or slide the

switch to turn the camera off .

Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode

To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button
halfway. Press the

button to return to playback.

Tip: Auto Power Off

The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the

AUTO POWER OFF

menu (see page 98). To turn the camera on, use the

switch or press the

but-

ton for about a second.
