[Notes on handling this printer]
Never throw an EP cartridge into an open flame. It can cause an
explosion and you can get burnt.
- Avoid a place exposed to the direct rays of the sun or strong light.
End this work within 5 minutes even under the room light.
- The photosensitive drum in the EP cartridge is protected by the drum
shutter so that it is not exposed to light. Do not open the drum shutter
unreasonably.
- Do not absolutely touch the surface of the sensitive drum by hand.
- Do not stand or reverse the EP cartridge.
- Toner is harmless for the human body. When toner is stick to your
hand or clothes, immediately wash out.
Press the release button on the left to unlock
(
), and open the top cover (
).
Pull out the EP cartridge from the package, and
shake it 7 to 8 times.
If the toner state is not equal, the printing quality may reduce. Not
shaking well may cause an abnormal sound at activation or dam-
age of the inside of the EP cartridge.
Put the EP cartridge in a flat place, and pull out
the toner seal.
- Pull out the toner seal straightly and horizontally. If the toner seal
is pulled out obliquely, the tape may cut halfway.
- After pulling out the toner seal, do not shake the EP cartridge or
give an impact to the EP cartridge.
Insert the EP cartridge on the groove in the
printer.
- Do not touch the parts in the printer by hands.
- Confirm that the EP cartridge is set securely.
Push the center of the top cover to close the
cover.
Pull out the protection materials in a flat place
(
), and remove the cassette cover (
).
Hold the length guide grip with fingers, and shift
the guide full-outward.
Shift the width guide on the left outward.
Arrange four corners of paper, and set paper,
turning the printing side up.
Take care that paper does not ride on the width guide.
- Do not use creased paper.
- Do not set paper exceeding the maximum number of settable sheets.
Shift the width guide on the left inward, and
match it with the paper width.
Correctly match the width guide with the paper width. If the width
guide is dislocated, paper is not transferred normally, and paper
jam may occur.
Arrange the ends of paper.
Hold the length guide grip with fingers to shift
the guide inward, and match the guide with the
size stamp of the set paper.
- Insert the ends of paper under the projection of the length guide
grip.
- Correctly match the length guide with the paper size. If the length
guide is dislocated, paper is not transferred normally, and paper
jam may occur.
Close the cassette cover.
Be sure to close the cassette cover. If the cover is not closed, paper
may be shifted.
Push the cassette against the inside of the
printer.
Confirm that the cassette is pushed against the inside of the printer.
Adhere the paper size label according to the
set paper.
Adjust the size setting dial of the cassette to
the size and direction of the set paper.
Do not operate the size setting dial during printing. The printer
may malfunction.
When the short side of paper lies down on the side, the paper direc-
tion is set to "portrait." When the long side of paper lies down on
the side, it is set to "landscape."
Move the projections on the left and right of the
cassette inward to unlock.
Hold the cassette grip, and pull out the exten-
sion full-toward you.
Move the projections on the left and right of the
cassette outward to lock.
Execute steps to in "When setting A4-
size or smaller paper.
