If the laser optics have inadvertently been changed (by
turning the thumb screw (1) to the left) (1)), the settings of
the aperture must be inspected and readjusted, if neces-
sary.
To inspect the optical system place a mat white piece of
cardboard to the right of the adjusting lens. To do this,
switch of the laser emitter. Open the inside cover and posi-
tion the white
non-reflecting, mat
piece of cardboard (or
paper) inside the cover so that it is hit by the laser beam
when the cover is closed and the emitter is switched on. If
the settings of the laser optics are correct, a circular bight
dot of approx. 8 mm in diameter is produced on the card-
board. The dot has a distinct edge and there are no other
illuminated areas outside the dot.
If a different image is produced on the cardboard, the aper-
ture must be adjusted.
The aperture is attached to the thumb screw (1) to the left
and its position can be adjusted along the axis by turning
this screw.
If the aperture is only very little out of line, it is sufficient to
adjust its position in "x - y" direction (2).
Inside the barrel (connecting the lens system with the aper-
ture) there are 2 micrometric screw (2) that are positioned
at right angles to each other. They allow for precision ad-
justment of the optical system. These screws can be used
to adjust the aperture in "x-y" direction in the focal plane of
the lens. Turn one of the micrometric screws to adjust the
aperture position. These adjusting screws are equipped
with sprung parts at the other end of the thread.
Turn the micrometric screws (2) until a
>> bright circular dot with a clear edge <<
is produced on the cardboard piece. These adjustments
can be completed within a few minutes, if you have ac-
quired some experience. If the adjustment is however not
successful, turn the thumb screw by 360 degrees to cap-
ture the beam produced by the aperture. By turning this
screw, the beam is widened so that it is more likely to strike
the inserted piece of cardboard.
Proceed by adjusting the screws until the laser light pro-
duces a circular shape on the piece of cardboard. Turn the
thumb screw (1) by approx. 1/4 rotation in the opposite di-
rection to readjust in "x-y" direction (2).
Repeat the above steps unit the thumb screw (1) is at the
correct position and the required bright circular dot with
sharp edge is produced. Ensure that there are no illumi-
nated areas outside the dot.
