Important safety instructions

•   The thermometer is suitable exclusively for measurement of the body temperature!

•   The minimum measurement time until the signalling tone [beep] must be maintained without ex-

ception!

•   Ensure that children and disabled persons do not use the instrument unsupervised; some parts are

small enough to be swallowed.

•   Protect the thermometer from hitting and striking!

•   Avoid bending the tip more than 45°!

•   Avoid ambient temperatures above 60 °C. NEVER boil the thermometer!

•   Use only the commercial disinfectants listed in the section «cleaning and disinfecting» to clean the

thermometer. The thermometer must be intact when immersed in liquid disinfectant.

•   Do not intentionally submerge the thermometer in water or other liquids.

In the event of splashes on the instrument, before taking a measurement dry with a clean cloth.

Splashing water will not compromise the accuracy of the measurement.

Batteries and electronic devices must be disposed of in accordance with the locally applica-

ble regulations, not with domestic waste. Illegal dumping of the product by the user entails the

administrative sanctions stated in article 50 et seq of Legislative Decree n. 22/1997.

Important: check the operating instructions

Type BF applied part

Turning on the thermometer

To turn on the thermometer, push the button over

the display window; a short signalling tone [beep]

signals «thermometer ON». A display test is per-

formed. All segments should be displayed. Then

at an ambient temperature of less than 32 °C, an

«

L» and a flashing «°C» appear at the upper right

of the display. The thermometer is now ready for

use.

Using the thermometer

Choose  the  preferred  measuring  method.  Dur-

ing  a  measurement,  the  current  temperature  is

displayed continuously. The «

°C» symbol flashes

during  this  period  of  time.  If  the  signalling  tone

sounds (beep-beep-beep 10 times) and the «

°C»

is no longer flashing, this means that the meas-

ured  increase  in  temperature  is  now  less  than

0,1°C  in  16  seconds  and  that  the  thermometer

is ready for reading.

Displays a color indicator

with  temperature  readout  to  clearly  understand

temperature measurement:

The LCD will display green color   ok

The LCD will display red color   fever

To prolong the life of the battery, turn it off after

use by pressing the operating button briefly. Oth-

erwise the thermometer will automatically turn off

after about 3 minutes.

Storage of measured values

If you hold the button down for more than 3 sec-

onds when turning the thermometer on, the maxi-

mum temperature stored automatically at the last

measurement will be displayed. At the same time,

a  small  «

M»  for  memory  will  appear  at  the  right

of  the  display.  After  3  more  seconds,  this  value

will disappear and the thermometer will switch to

the normal measurement mode. Then the stored

value is erased.

Measuring methods

In the mouth (oral)

Position the thermometer in one of the two pock-

ets under the tongue, to the left or right of the root

of the tongue. The measuring sensor must be in

good contact with the tissue. Close your mouth

and breath evenly through the nose to prevent the

measurement  from  being  influenced  by  inhaled/

exhaled air.

Approx. measuring time: 8 sec.!

In the anus (rectal)

This is the most reliable measuring method, and

is  especially  suitable  for  infants  and  small  chil-

dren. Carefully insert the measuring sensor of the

thermometer 2 to 3 cm into the anal aperture.

Ap-

prox. measuring time: 8 sec.!

In the armpit (axillary)

A minimum measurement time of 3-5 minutes is

recommended regardless of the beep sound.

Approx. measuring time: 8 sec.!

At home, for measurement by parents, for

all children measurement with electronic

thermometer in the armpit is recommended.

Cleaning and disinfecting

Use an alcohol swab or cotton tissue moistened

with  alcohol  (70%  Isopropyl)  to  clean  the  ther-

mometer. Please never immerse into liquids!

Battery replacement

When the «

» symbol (upside-down triangle) ap-

pears  at  the  display  field,  the  battery  is  flat  and

needs  replacing.  To  replace  the  battery  remove

the  battery  compartment  cover  from  the  ther-

mometer.

Insert the new battery with the + at the top. Make

sure you have a battery of the same type to hand.

Batteries can be purchased at any electrical store
