Transport and storage
Warning
Danger of crushing!
The product without accessories weighs up to about 1500 kg, depending on the
product version.
Body parts can be crushed if the product falls.
Use appropriate load handling equipment.
Use the 3 transport lugs to life the quarter turn actuator (Fig. 3,
8
).
Loosen the quarter turn actuator before transporting the process valve.
Note
For variants with a hydraulic unit (DFPD-HD-...-HW): environmental damage due
to escaping oil.
Store the product horizontally and avoid inclines.
Observe environmental and storage conditions
è
Technical data.
To prevent contamination, close any pneumatic connections.
Protect the coupling parts with grease or protective oil.
To prevent damage to the coupling flange, store the quarter turn actuator on an
even wooden pallet.
Store the product in a cool, dry, UV- and corrosion-protected environment.
In case of long-term storage: regularly check the function of the quarter turn
actuator.
When shipping used products: comply with all legal requirements for handling
hazardous substances and transporting dangerous goods.

Mounting and installation
Note
Installation should only be conducted by qualified specialized personnel.
Note
Quarter turn actuators of the series DFPD-HD are intended for installation in
parallel with the line axis.
If another mounting position is necessary, consult your regional Festo contact
è
www.festo.com.
Note
Quarter turn actuators with a hydraulic manual override are designed for a
horizontal mounting position only. In this position, the pump and reservoir as
mounted towards the top of the hydraulic cylinder.
8.1 Mounting
1. Clean the coupling flange.
2. Adjust the valve position according to the quarter turn actuator settings.
3. Lubricate the valve stem.
4. Place the quarter turn actuator on the switching shaft of the process valve.
5. Fasten the quarter turn actuator to the connecting flange of the process valve
with 8 threaded pins.

Commissioning
Note
Commissioning should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Prerequisites
– The drive is fully mounted and connected.
1. Check operating conditions and limit values
è
Technical data.
2. Switch on the compressed air supply.
3. Check the quarter turn actuator for leakage.
4. First check the direction of rotation of the quarter turn actuator and reaction of
the process valve at a low travel speed.
9.1 Adjusting the end position – on the end flange of the pneumatic cylinder
The end position is adjusted using the adjusting screw on the end flange of the
pneumatic cylinder:
