The interface between the automation system CPX-AP and the network per-
forms the following functions:

Connection of the automation system CPX-AP to the network
– Data transfer between the automation system CPX-AP and the higher-
order controller
– Transmission of control signals to the connected modules
– Monitoring the functionality of the connected modules
– Access to system parameters (read/write), input/output signals and dia-
gnostic data (depending on the interface)
– Controller of the automation system CPX-AP

The input/output modules include various module types:

Digital input/output modules can be used, for example, to query sensor
signals or to control actuators.
– In an automation system CPX-AP, an analogue input module acquires ana-
logue input signals.
– In an automation system CPX-AP, a IO-Linkmaster provides several IO-Link
Ports for the connection of IO-Link Devices.
