2.3 Using Additional Help

Operating the chair requires a minimum of two trained operators. They

may need additional trained help when working with heavy loads

(patient plus equipment), or when operating or carrying the chair

manually.

●

A trained operator stands at each end of the chair facing each

other, maintains control of the chair, operates the controls, and

direct helpers on where to stand and how to grasp the chair.

●

If available, a third trained helper “spots” for the lead operator when

descending stairs.

●

Ferno recommends that helpers work in pairs to help maintain

chair balance.

Refer to the chart for suggested placement for operators and helpers.
