It may also be necessary to adjust the 45°-mitre angle. This
is done in a similar way. Set the blade angle to 45° then
using a 45°-angle setsquare check the angle. If the angle
needs altering use the angle stop nut located on the rear.
Cutting operations
APPLICATIONS:
This compound sliding mitre saw is suitable for cross cut-
ting wood and plastic. Cross cutting mitre joints for picture
frames, mouldings, door casings and many other fine joi-
nery requirements.
SAFE OPERATION
Before starting make sure you have ready FULLY the safe-
ty chapter of this manual. Failure to comply with the safety
requirements laid down here may result in personal injury.
CROSSCUTTING
A ’crosscut’ is made by, cutting across the grain of the
work piece. A 90° crosscut is made with the mitre table set
at the 0° position. Mitre crosscuts are made with the mitre
table set at some other angle other than 0°. Commonly 15°,
22,5°, 30° or 45°.
To crosscut
Pull out the lock pin to allow the blade to raise to its up-
per position. Unlock the mitre table lock knob as shown in
picture below.
Rotate the mitre table until the pointer aligns with the de-
sired angle on the mitre gauge. Lock the mitre table into
position with the lock knob.
Place the work piece flat on the mitre table with one ed-
ge securely held against the fence. If the wood is warped,
place the convex side against the fence and clamp vice.
Clamp the wood to table with vice. Align the blade to the
front of the work piece then pressing the Safety lock off
switch squeeze the start trigger. Allow a maximum speed
then, slide the running blade gently through the work piece
until completely cut. Do not force the blade unnecesssa-
rily. Once completely through the work-piece, release the
trigger. See picture below.
BEVEL CUTTING
A bevel cut is made by cutting across the grain of the work
piece with the blade angled to the fence and mitre table.
The mitre table is set to 0° and the blade at an angle bet-
ween 0° and 15°.
To bevel cut
Position the mitre table at 0° Secure work piece as descri-
bed in the crosscutting section. Set the blade angle to the
desired angle and lock the bevel lock lever as indicated be-
low.
