Many components replaced with better quality items of the same value e.g. many stock
capacitors replaced with orange drop capacitors and silver mica capacitors
•
The output tubes have been fitted with 1
Ω
1% resistors on the cathode. This makes it very
simple for an amp tech to set the bias – the voltage drop across the resistors in mV is equal
to the current drawn in mA.
•
Screen resistors have been fitted to the output tubes.
•
New Electro Harmonix output tubes fitted and biased.
•
New Fender pre-amp tubes fitted.
•
A silent 12V fan fitted running at 6V to cool Power Scaling components, rectifier and output
tubes.
•
Large rubber feet fitted to replace the original metal feet.
•
A Y cable may be used to link the instrument to both channels for greater gain (do not try to
jumper them!) – the same Jack should be used in both channels e.g. Normal Channel 1 and
Bright Channel .
Additional note regarding the Volume Controls:
The Normal and Bright volume controls are interactive. By varying the setting of the volume control
that you are NOT using, the tone of the amplifier can be changed.
There are YouTube examples of this and explanations on the internet.
e.g. with the guitar plugged into the Normal channel the Bright channel volume will alter the tone.
The effect is normally greatest with the unused volume control set around the mid-point.
